Thank you to Harold Dukes, Eric Adams and Christopher R. Yaw (with Charleston County Transportation Development) and our County Council Member Colleen Condon for meeting with our board about the completion of the sidewalk project.  The plans called for the sidewalk to “cut through” the “back” of the bed, then due to DOT regulations requiring the crosswalk to come in front of the traffic signal, the sidewalk was cut through the front of the bed. The project will be completed by month’s end with the following items still to come:

❑ A small “dimple” will be left on the Hwy 171 side of the crosswalk as a small measure of protection from traffic and to also help guide cars to turn out wide instead of into the cross walk.

❑ The front entrance bed will be “capped off” with a new curb on the front side.

❑ The project managers will pay the CE1 Neighborhood Association for the plants needed to replant the front bed.

STAGE 1: CLEAN UP

Prior to the project being complete, we ask that everyone who is able to meet at the front entrance on Saturday, September 19 from 9 – 10 am to clean out of the bed: trimming and weeding. Please bring the tools that you have that may be helpful. We will have lawn bags and water as well.

STAGE 2: REPLANTING

Plants will be purchased along with new mulch to replant the bed, hopefully, this will occur on September 19 as well.  If not, we will schedule the replanting for a later date, so please pay attention to your email for more information.

Hope to see you all on September 19!
